When all our optimism fades: when all our confident self-talk dissolves to sighs and silences, there is a Friend who steps into our fragile world with warmth and strength and needed grace. Christ is the One who never stands aloof, or fails to hold us when we wander. He doesn’t wait till we have scrubbed our hands or straightened out our act. He moves toward all who weep or doubt or struggle with themselves, for He knows what we at last will know: we never, ever, save ourselves. In Him “we live and move and have our being” (Acts 17:28), and in His grace—alone—we trust. Embrace the love that first embraces you. And stay in grace.
