Adventist Health has selected a new chief executive officer
and named presidents for its Northern California Network of five hospitals as
well as for the Tilamook Regional Medical Center along Oregon’s coast, officials said recently.

Scott Reiner, executive vice president and COO of Adventist
Health, has been appointed president to succeed Robert G. Carmen, who announced
his intent to retire in September. With the December 16 vote, he becomes
president-elect with immediate transitioning of executive responsibilities,
according to Board Chairman Ricardo Graham, who is also president of the
Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The transition is to be
completed by March 31, 2014.

“Scott has a long history of service as a key member of our
senior leadership team at Adventist Health,” stated Graham. “His demonstrated
excellence in leadership, forward thinking, clinical experience and dedication
to our vision will be assets to his new role as we progress in our mission
focus.”

Reiner started his leadership as the CEO of Glendale Adventist
Medical Center (GAMC), a 515-bed facility in Southern California. After seven
years of service at GAMC, Reiner assumed the role of senior vice president of
Adventist Health in 2006. He chaired the boards of nine hospitals and also
oversaw business development, innovations and philanthropy from the corporate
office. In 2010, Reiner was named the executive vice president and COO,
responsible for the day-to-day operations of Adventist Health. The role
included visioning, architecting, implementing and sourcing leaders needed to
operationalize Adventist Health’s strategy.

“I am honored by the board’s decision to pick me as the successor to Bob Carmen
and to lead this organization as its new president and CEO,” stated Reiner. “I
am proud of the heritage of service and quality that Adventist Health has
established. I look forward to guiding this organization as we fulfill our
vision to transform the healthcare experience for our communities.”

Jeff Eller has been named president of the Northern
California Network (NCN), according to Bill Wing, senior vice president of
Adventist Health. Eller will replace Terry Newmyer who announced his
resignation in October 2013.

“I am looking forward to working with the excellent caregivers in the Northern
California Network to expand Adventist Health’s mission and reputation in
Northern California,” said Eller.

“Jeff’s emphasis on growth and quality along with his administrative experience
and strong record in clinical operations makes him an excellent fit for the
position of President of NCN,” said Wing, “Also, his strength in team building,
physician relations and community relations will be great assets to the
organization.”

The NCN includes Howard Memorial Hospital, St. Helena Hospital Center for
Behavioral Health, St. Helena Hospital Clear Lake, St. Helena Hospital Napa
Valley and Ukiah Valley Medical Center.

Rounding out the appointment news, David Butler has been
named president and CEO of Tillamook Regional Medical Center (TRMC), according
to Tom Russell, board chairman for the Tillamook operations and president of
Adventist Health in Portland. Butler will assume his responsibility for TRMC,
their multiple physician clinics and Urgent Care Centers along the Oregon coast
on February 3, 2014.

Butler has more than 25 years of experience leading large
and rural-sized health care facilities. He currently serves as CEO for North
Canyon Medical Center, a critical access hospital in Gooding, Idaho.

“David has tremendous operational experience that will help
facilitate the continued growth of Tillamook Regional Medical Center,” said
Russell. “He is deeply committed to the mission of the hospital and is excited
to provide leadership in clinical and operational excellence to communities
along the Oregon coast.

Prior to his current position, Butler was president/CEO of
Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tenn. He holds a bachelor’s degree
in Long-Term Healthcare Administration, an associate of science degree in
nursing and a masters of business administration from Southern Adventist
University.

growth of Tillamook Regional Medical Center and look forward to helping meet
the health and wellness needs of the coastal communities,” said Butler. “It
will be a privilege to collaborate with a dynamic team and community partners
in serving the needs of this vibrant region.”
