In other business the North American Division executive committee:
Voted to request the division president to appoint a Commission
on Ethnic Ministries to study the needs of various cultural, ethnic, racial,
and language groups throughout North America and make recommendations for structuring
the churches to provide systematic administration so that all people groups
will be adequately served.
In proposing the commission, NAD secretary Harold Baptiste
noted that there are at least 27 ethnic groups within the North American Division.
Elected five new officers and directors for five year
terms.
Alvin Kibble and Kenneth Coonley, respective presidents of the Allegheny
East and Carolina conferences were invited to become division vice
presidents.��� Georgia-Cumberland Conference pastor Walt Williams was elected a field
secretary and will assist in coordination of the new Master of Divinity degree
at the Adventist Theological Seminary at Andrews University.
James Black, Southwest Region Conference youth director,
was elected associate director of youth ministries and will lead out in Pathfinder,
Adventurer, and camping ministries. Georgia-Cumberland Conference education
director Kelly Bock was elected as an associate education director.

Heard a report from the New York-New Jersey Metro Ministries
Long-Range Planning Commission. Established in 1998, the commission has several
goals, including the establishment of a permanent NAD Metro Ministries organization
in New York City to aid the Adventist church in starting 5,000 small groups,
planting 100 cell churches, planting new congregations in artistic and high-end
business communities, and starting alternative worship services.
Designated the Adventist media ministries as the recipients
of the 2002 first quarter thirteenth Sabbath offering.
