Give & Take

Adventist Life

We had just returned to our home church after several weeks of traveling as representatives for Christian Record Services for the Blind. During that time we had assisted at blind youth camp.

After the worship service the pastor greeted worshippers at the rear church exit. As my wife and I approached the pastor, I stepped forward and said, “The prodigal son has returned!”

Glad to see us, the pastor smiled and replied, “Good! We will kill the fatted zucchini and celebrate!” We hugged and all laughed together.

One Sabbath in early February 2014 one of our pastors, in calling for the offering in the College View church, said, “Tomorrow is a game that lots of you will be watching, so I thought we’d do the same here.” The pastor held up a large coin and tossed it in the air. On catching the coin he said, “The deacons won the toss, and they have elected to receive.”

Poem

My Choice13 1 4 9

To walk with God
To hear His voice
To wait for Him
To make my choice

To make my heart
His dwelling place
To look into
His blessed face

Ready to go
Where He demands
Ready to do
Whate’er He plans

To know He leads
The way I take
To live or die
For His name’s sake

To let His Spirit
Take control
To keep me pure
And make me whole

To draw from Him
His boundless grace
And power to win
This ragged race

This is MY CHOICE
