With Empty Hands

“When we are choosing for ourselves, we still are climbing stairs upon our knees. We beat ourselves with doubt-edged whips; we push the thorny crown down on our heads for all the moments when our flesh denies the Spirit. We keep ourselves confined in fear, for dread can keep some souls from straying. But Christ has chosen grace for us, and He has sovereignly declared there is no other way than His; there is no heaven without Him. The gospel takes from us the tools by which we try to save ourselves, ‘for by His stripes we are healed.’ Embrace the fullness of the cross. And stay in grace.”
