Poem

When This World Is Over
When this world is finally over and our work on earth is done;
And we, in joy and waking wonder, behold God’s only Son!

Into His arms we’ll rise in triumph, being translated and fashioned as He;
And into glory we’ll fly away where we will forever be!

—Harold L. Sweet, Lancaster, California

“Should we pray that the world will come to its senses and recognize God’s truth in our fundamental beliefs?
Or rather pray that we will come to our senses and realize that claiming God’s truth without showing Christ’s love is merely living a lie?”

—Martin Weber, in Outlook, December 2012, submitted by Ardis Stenbakken

Adventist Life

My 6-year-old son, Carl, after having lived all but six months of his life in the big cities of Minneapolis and Chicago, was taking in the sights as we moved to our new home and ministry in North Dakota. Looking out the car window at the terrain, as far as the eye could see there were nothing but wheat fields. As we crossed the state line he asked, “Daddy, is this the end of America?”

We were wondering the same thing ourselves.

—Cliff Hoffman, Atascadero, California

As I prayed with my sons, Jose III and Joel, before they went to bed, Joel asked me to pray to Jesus that His second coming happen before he becomes an adult. When I inquired about the reason for this request, he replied, “I still want to go to school in heaven . . .”

That was the start of a great conversation about heaven and all the great things that Jesus has prepared for us.

—Jose Cortes, Jr., South Lancaster, Massachusetts
