hat's important to people in today's world? What values guide them through life?
Many individuals in our society today have placed wealth, career, social status, etc., as tantamount goals in their lives. "Dog-eat-dog" values have emerged as desirable. "Just Do It" and similar credos are indicative of a society that will stop at nothing to achieve power, rank, money, and the like.
So what about the Beatitudes? How do they fit into a world chock-full of selfish relativists and aggressive over--achievers? Is Christ's message irrelevant or viable?
In this special issue young adult Seventh-day Adventists offer new insights into these timeless teachings. Each of the beatitudes has been addressed in a variety of ways--from theological examination to practical application, from personal experiences to opinion pieces, from poetry to prose--the Beatitudes Project issue will be filled with serious (and not-so-serious) contemplation on Matthew 5:3-10.
With the media's deluge of constant global news, we are seeing how others live and believe, and what Christ says is important in how we live and share our faith. Can the messages in the Beatitudes change our notions of how things are supposed to be? Read this issue and find out what young adults in our church have to say in answer to the challenge set forth in the Beatitudes.
