A Place for All Nations

BY ROY ADAMS

Return to Main Story

ission College prides itself on its international standing, offering prospective students (through its brochure) "an experience of meeting and sharing with people from a variety of cultures," "an on-campus international teaching faculty," and a "curriculum [that] is truly international." The institution partners with a number of well-known educational entities abroad, including Loma Linda University, La Sierra University, Southern Adventist University, Walla Walla College, Avondale College, and (Korean) Sahmyook University. The faculty, hailing from more than 20 different countries, all reside on campus, thus providing students easy (after-hours) access to advice and counsel.

Unabashedly proclaiming in its brochure that success in business and communication in the twenty-first century is based on a working knowledge of the English language, the college immerses its students in English, "the campus language" and the language "used in all lectures and student/teacher interactions."

The four-year international programs, intentionally patterned after traditional American and British educational systems, include bachelor's degrees in English, education and psychology, applied theology, religious education, business administration in accounting, business administration in entrepreneurship, business administration in computer information systems, biology, and mathematics. A three-story high-tech library and media center offers students easy access to research in a wide variety of fields.

The college's enrollment for 2003 was 637, with 364 located at the Muak Lek campus and 273 at the Bangkok (Nursing) campus. The basic tuition cost for students from Thailand and surrounding countries during the 2002-2003 school year was 1,500 baht per credit hour (about US$570/semester).*
