I was born into a Catholic family in Sri Lanka. I was only a "Sunday Mass Catholic" until (I was)19 years old, when I was introduced to Jesus in a charismatic prayer group. I loved my Lord and wanted to serve Him fully. So I joined the Benedictine Sisters of Grace and Compassion and was transferred to England, where I took my vow of obedience.
While I was in the convent the peace and joy I had (from knowing Jesus) slowly drifted from me. However, I did not have the courage to come out. What would people think of me and my family? I continued to live in the convent, (but) during the final two years I felt miserable.
One day I suddenly heard a voice, "There is no truth here, but the truth will set you free." I began to think of my first love for the Lord. After staying for 15 long years, by God's help I left the convent. During my search for the truth I met Doss and Johnson and Homahan Washington when Doss preached at a Tamil charismatic Catholic meeting in Toronto. They encouraged me to come to Alberta.
Here I found my faith again and discovered that God does not control people.
I am free at last.
