Give & Take

Adventist Life

Eleven guests and host and hostess had just finished Sabbath dinner when one of the guests asked, “What is the abomination of desolation?”

There were a few moments of silence; then another guest replied, “I think dirty dishes, pots, and pans in the kitchen are the abomination after a wonderful meal that has just been desolated.”

Did You Know?

The West-Central Africa Division (WAD) is comprised of 22 countries. With a population of about 375 million, the division has a church membership of about 865,000 people worshipping at 3,400 churches. WAD was organized in 2003 when the denomination added a third division in Africa to accommodate church growth on the continent.

WAD is home to three Adventist universities. Babcock University, which includes the Benjamin S. Carson School of Medicine, is in Nigeria. The school has more than 5,800 students and is among the top three largest universities in the denomination by enrollment. Ghana is home to Valley View University; and Adventist University Cosendai is located in Cameroon. This university is one of only two private universities in Cameroon that offer government-recognized degrees.

Herald’s Trumpet

Hi, kids! Thanks for searching for Herald’s trumpet. In our last contest (Jan. 22, 2015) we had five entries! Our three winners were Lucas Evans, from Niles, Michigan; Shastina Miller, from Pullman, Michigan; and Evelyn Solomon, from Laurel, Maryland. Each received a book and a KidsView prize. Where was the trumpet? On page 28.

If you look carefully, you’ll notice that the trumpet, hidden in the pages of certain Review issues for the past 19 years, is not missing. Thank you for your eagerness in searching out the trumpet each time—and thank you for the hundreds of postcards and letters. We aren’t really saying goodbye, but rather, see you later—on this earth, or in heaven. As always, keep trumpeting Jesus’ love—and His second coming!
