GLOW Stories

Giving light to our world—GLOW—is an outreach initiative in multiple North American Division conferences based on the concept of church members carrying Adventist literature with them wherever they go and handing it out—free of charge—at every opportunity. Here are two short stories of lives touched by GLOW:

Bob was helping to distribute GLOW tracts in San Francisco on Halloween night. He stood outside the city’s BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station in the Mission District and handed GLOW tracts to people as they exited the train. In less than 40 minutes he had passed out more than 400 tracts! Others gave them to trick-or-treaters along with candy. If you’re interested in giving out specially designed GLOW tracts for Halloween, you can contact the GLOW office at sdaglow.org.

Story 2

A woman who regularly passed a group of workers picketing a grocery store decided to give the picketers GLOW tracts. After smiling at and saying hello to everyone and handing each person a tract, she left to get into her car. Someone then shouted, “What church do you go to?” The woman replied, “The Seventh-day Adventist Church. Have you heard of it?” Some of the people were familiar with Adventists and a few of the church doctrines. A couple people were related to Adventists, and another person had once attended an Adventist church. They soon began discussing the Bible and such doctrines as the Sabbath and the state of the dead. Before she left she had also given away a GLOW edition of The Great Controversy and three DVDs about prophecy.
